Sanson Pereira Inks Contract Extention with FC Goa

Full-back Sanson Pereira has inked a new 3-year extension contract with the FC Goa. As of the new deal, the club will keep him till 2024.

The young left-back joined the club during the 2020 season after parting ways with Salgaocar FC. He clocked 147 minutes across four fixtures in his debut ISL season for the Gaurs. He played his debut ISL match on 22 November 2020 against Bengaluru FC. However, FC Goa settled with a 2-2 draw with the Blues.

“I’ve grown a lot in only a season with this club, both on and off the pitch. Playing with some of the best players in the country and working under a tremendous coach in Juan Ferrando has helped me to find a new dimension within me,” – Sanson Pereira expressed after signing the contract extension.

FC Goa’s boss Juan Ferrando also included him in the squad that participated in the club’s first Continental competition AFC Champions League. Sanson became the only of the club to start all six games at Continental Level. He had a crucial role in the FC Goa third finish in the Group A of the AFC Champions League.

Since his signing at the club, he has appeared in 10 games, including the ISL fixtures and the AFC Champion League fixtures.

Head Coach Juan Ferrando cherished Sanson’s new contract with the club and also expressed -“He has really impressed in his first season with the club. He has improved throughout the course of the season and found his stride in the AFC Champions League.”

The Indian Super League, 2021-22, will kick start with the new guidelines that will provide ample chances to the domestic and developmental players to showcase their skills and improve their game along with top-notch players of the League.

Sanson Pereira carrer ahead of his signing in FC Goa

Sanson Pereira was born in Nuvem, Goa, and started playing football from a young age. He began playing for the Goa-based Salgaocar FC Youth team after impressing the club U-14 Trials.

Salgaocar FC promoted him to the senior squad in 2016. That season he went on to win the Goa Professional League with the club.
