SC East Bengal 3-4 FC Goa: Goa bag their first win

FC Goa managed to bag their first win of the season against SC East Bengal. Both teams have started their season on the lower end after failing to win their first 3 matches. FC Goa, however, broke that streak as they came on top in this encounter. Meanwhile, SC East Bengal now remains the only team who haven’t scored a single win this season.

SC EAST BENGAL 3- 4 FC GOA : THE GAME

The match started with FC Goa controlling the tempo of the game. The first chance for Goa broke out to Edu Bedia in the 6th minute, who tried to find the top corner from outside the box but failed to trouble the keeper. FC Goa were fortunate to not concede in the 9th minute when a slow clearance from Dheeraj Singh struck a SCEB player but failed to ricochet into the net.

The deadlock was broken in the 14th minute by Alberto Noguera. He scored an absolute banger from 30 yards out, to make it 0-1 in favor of Goa. Noguera came alive after his goal and set up Ortiz for a sitter, however, Ortiz made a mess out of the chance and shot wide. Antonio Perosevic called out Noguera for his strike when he scored a banger in the 26th minute for SCEB. A left-footed shot from him flew into the net after striking the post with the keeper rooted to the spot.

East Bengal’s joy however lasted for only 6 minutes, as they conceded a penalty through Sourav Das. Jorge Oritz made amends for his miss, by converting from the spot. SCEB, however, came up with a response in the 37th minute, when a free-kick from Amir Dervisevic deceived everyone and crept into the far corner. An eventful first half saw FC Goa take the lead through an unfortunate own goal courtesy of Perosevic. FC goa headed into the second half with a 1 goal advantage.

The second half saw Perosevic make amends for his own goal when he equalized for SCEB after capitalizing on a mistake from Glan Martins. FC Goa managed to fight off the pressure from SCEB and grabbed the winner in the 79th minute when Ortiz drilled in a ball for Noguera who made no mistake and converted to give FC Goa their first win of the season.
