To clarify that after the meeting between two parties. She announced that SC East Bengal will play in the upcoming edition of ISL in Association with Shree Cement.
“East Bengal played in the ISL with the help of Shree Cement last season. But there were a lot of uncertainties over the future of the club. Hence I also became a little hostile. However, I requested them to think about the innumerable East Bengal fans.” – Said CM Mamata Banerjee.
“What will happen to the fans if their favourite team does not play the ISL? I want Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and even Mohammedan to feature in the ISL. These teams have great brand value globally.” – further added by her.
Certainly SC East Bengal have initially sign a team sheet before entering into ISL 2020-21. However with a veteran coach like Robbie Fowler they managed to finish 9th in the table. But according to the new team sheet the club should hand over all its properties to the newly formed joint venture SC East Bengal Foundation.
However at the commencement of that season the investors Shree Cement denied to spend money. Until there is a final agreement Between Both sides. And the club Officials are also not in the mood to sign the agreement due to disparities to their initial term.
Secondly Shree Cement sended a revised agreement to the club’s Officials. And the club Officials took legal aid and denied to sign the agreement once again. So the investors Shree Cement are wanting to pull the deal off.
Involvement of Mamata Banerjee in SC East Bengal
Certainly after the involvement of Mamata Banerjee in the conflict. Firstly She helped East Bengal to find a invertor for that season. Secondly she resolved the problem in a peacefully.
“We also want the games to happen. Due to certain reasons, we couldn’t sign the final term sheet. We were trying since the past year to make things work. However, since you have requested we will be participating in this year’s ISL.” -Said Shree Cement’s Spokesperson.
SC East Bengal’s Official Debabrata Sarkar thanked Mamata Banerjee for her efforts to resolve the problem. It is noted that Debabrata Sarkar also present in that meeting.
“Didi has always been with us. For her, we could install floodlights at the club grounds. Just like last year, this year too, Didi has helped us come out of a tough spot. We thank her and SCL. I think didi’s phrase of ‘Khela hobe!’ sits very nicely in this situation.” – Said Mr.Sarkar.
So at last East Bengal will play in the 2021-22 edition of the ISL. However they should build a strong team as the transfer window closes at 31st of August 2021.
