About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

A late stoppage time goal from Vishnu Gosavi spared Sesa FA as held Salgaocar FC to a 1-1 draw. This was another tense tie in the Goa Pro League at the Duler Stadium on Thursday. Following an even first period, Saeesh Halarnkar found the net 66 minutes in to put Salgaocar ahead.

Sesa FA began the match energetically and controlled proceedings. They were close to taking the lead in the 11th minute. Rizbon Fernandes made his way to a one-on-one with Salgaocar goalkeeper Jason D’Melo. However, D’Melo made an easy save when Fernandes failed to control the ball. 16 minutes in, Rizbon was in a similar situation. But D’Melo was quick off his line to dash out and keep the scores unchanged.

On the other side, Salgaocar were able to create only a single chance to go ahead in the first half. Shubham Shirwaikar was taken out by Shridharnath Gawas just outside the opposition box. The subsequent free-kick was curled in by Selwyn Miranda but was pushed away by Roanal Gaunkar in the 28th minute.

Sesa Fa dominate proceedings vs Salgaocar FC

Sesa FA were afforded two more chances to put their noses in front against Salgaocar FC before half time. Vishnu Gosavi darted down the right wing and drilled in a low cross to Aston Rodrigues. Salgaocar playmaker Selwyn took care of the danger, not allowing Aston Rodrigues to capitalize on it.

Once again, for Sesa FA, Sandeep flung in a long throw-in aimed at Rizbon, who was waiting in the box. The forward pivoted to give himself sufficient space to get into a good position to score. However, his effort from close range was wide.

Domination from Sesa FA continued even after the first period. Nonetheless, the Green Brigade caught them off guard in the 66th minute. Saeesh was sharp to score thanks to substitute Umang Gaikwad’s ball in. Saeesh’s shot took a deflection off defender Myron Pereira and landed in the Sesa net.

The side from the Academy held their ground despite trailing as they unleashed an all-out attack. They teased the opposition, coming close to scoring on multiple occasions. Finally, in added time, they found redemption as they fought hard and drew level. Coming off the bench Mahammed Faheez picked out Vishnu with a cross into the box. Vishnu had nerves of steel as his header from close range found the back of the net to deny Salgaocar 3 points.
