Sevilla has reportedly identified Lazio midfielder Milan Luis Alberto as a potential transfer target for the summer transfer window. According to reports Sevilla are interested in signing the 28-year-old Spanish midfielder Luis Alberto from Lazio.
Luis Alberto has been playing for Lazio in Serie A under coach Simone Inzaghi. However, he is a product of Sevilla and he played the first two years of his career for the B-side. He scored 15 goals in the second season and was given an entry into the first team.
Sevilla sold the midfielder in 2013 to Liverpool for a sum of £6.8 million. However, they soon realized their mistake and since then they have been trying to get the midfielder back to Spain.
Sevilla would be going for another try to sign the player in this summer window. However, it will be difficult for them as the Lazio president Claudio Lotito has put a €70 million price tag on him. Lotito has no interest in lowering that and is in a strong position currently as his contract lasts till 2025.
Alberto’s life at Lazio
Luis Alberto joined the Italian side in 2016 for a fee of €4 million from Liverpool. He has flourished so far in Serie A and continues to do so. Luis Alberto has been a key part of coach Simone Inzaghi’s squad this season, having made 29 appearances in the league so far this campaign with 8 goals and 1 assist to his name.
Alberto has been a great asset to his manager as he can play in three different roles attacking midfielder, winger, and the second striker. This flexibility has proved to be of great use to his playing style as he has been the first choice in the team sheet.
Luis Alberto’s introduction to the team has been a great advantage for Lazio as their attacking unit has improved a lot. He gets well along with Ciro Immobile, Lucas Leiva, and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic providing more attacking options. His good performance at Lazio has also earned him frequent appearances in the Spanish international team.
Luis Alberto ideal choice for Sevilla
Alberto is creative and has an excellent vision. His passing is extraordinary and his technique is superb. He takes his time to analyze the passing options and makes passes that wreck the whole defensive structure of the team. His presence of mind helps him make those brilliant passes.
He reads the game very well. This helps him spot out spaces with ease. With the ball, Alberto threatens the spaces with intelligent passes and sublime through balls as the wide midfielders or the forwards make runs.
Signing Alberto would be a great advantage for Sevilla as it can strengthen their midfield a lot. And with his flexibility of position he can be used very efficiently on the pitch.
It is no doubt that a midfielder of Alberto’s quality will undoubtedly be the right choice for Julen Lopetegui if he is confident that he can get the best out of him. It would also be easy for Alberto to adjust in Sevilla as he has already played from them earlier in his career.
Sevilla have had a pretty good season. Currently, they are in the top four in the league and fighting for the league title. However, they need to improve a lot and by signing Alberto it seems it would take them closer to winning the League.
