Premier League outfit Southampton FC will partner up with Thane City FC, adding them to its portfolio of International Academy Partners. The side agreed on a partnership spanning the coming 3 years. It will witness the Saints’ Football Partnership team support Thane City’s development goals.
Thane City FC strives to fashion create a challenging environment. They want to inspire and encourage aspiring youngsters by empowering them to reach their full potential.
Director of Business and Community Development, Mark Abrahams, stated: “Our International Academy Partnerships are built on a shared value in coach and player development. A first for the Saints
Found on the north-western side of Maharashtra, Thane is a close neighbour of Mumbai Metropolitan Region city. It is also a part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The deal with the Saints will witness an array of chances for Thane City FC staff, players and parents. They will get opportunities to interact with Southampton FC’s coach and player development programme. The main focus areas of the partnership encompass access to the Southampton FC curriculum, online resource library and a Coach Education webinar series.
Southampton FC Academy staff will also be travelling for a visit to Thane, India every year. They will aim to operate with coaches and players. Needless to mention, this will begin when travel restrictions ease up and it is safer to travel.
Co-founder of Thane City FC, Prashant J Singh, mentioned: “This partnership will propel the entire football ecosystem not only in Thane but the entire region. With a residential setup in process, partnering with a club like Southampton was exactly what we needed in terms of expertise, knowledge-sharing, and exchange programs.”
