The Indian National Football Team captain, Sunil Chhetri, and his wife, Sonam Bhattacharya, have been blessed with a baby boy. On August 31, Sunil Chhetri welcomed the newest member of his family. According to reports, the new-born baby is healthy with no noticeable deformities.
During the Intercontinental Cup, Sunil Chhetri announced news about her wife’s pregnancy. After scoring against Vanuatu, he ran to the technical area and also showed a baby-bump gesture to his wife. Moreover, in the post-match interview, Sunil Chhetri said,
“Me and my wife are expecting a baby; this is how she wanted me to announce- it’s for her and the baby. I just hope we get all the blessings and wishes.”
In 2017, Sunil got married to Sonam Bhattacharya. Moreover, Sonam is the daughter of former Mohun Bagan player Subrata Bhattacharya.
Sunil Chhetri is now on leave due to paternal duties:
Following this, Sunil Chhetri has asked for a leave from AIFF and head coach Igor Stimac to spend this special time with his family. The captain’s request is granted, and he is now on a break to enjoy his fatherhood. Due to his leave, Chhetri will not be participating in the King’s Cup but will be available for the Asian Games.
