In the most recent FIFA Rankings, the Indian men’s senior national team jumped five places to 101 from 106.

The Blue Tigers climbed the standings by sweeping higher-ranked Kyrgyz Republic and lower-ranked Burma in the Hero Tri-Nation event.

The guys in blue put on an all-around performance. And winning two straight clean sheets in their Tri-Nation success, 1-0 against Myanmar and 2-0 over Kyrgyz Republic. The Igor Stimac-coached team received 8.57 points following the conclusion of the FIFA-affiliated event. Moreover, bringing their total to 1200.66 from 1192.09.

“I am very happy with the team and the boys. They played with a brilliant attitude and the overall environment was also very positive. It’s the result that creates this positivity for us,” Stimac told AIFF Media following the win against Burma.

The Blue Tigers are closing in on the 100th spot in the standings. With the team’s greatest ever position – 94th – obtained under former head coach Rustam Akramov in 1996.

Meanwhile, Argentina has risen to first place, with France, Brazil, Belgium, and England rounding out the top five. Japan, rated 20th, remains the highest-ranked Asian nation following their outstanding accomplishments at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
