Real Madrid have announced the arrival of Antonio Rudiger for free after the German decided to leave Chelsea

The German enjoyed a great time in England’s capital. And he has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the world. The 29-year-old guided Chelsea into winning the Champions League last term. And he also played a key role for the Blues this season. 

Thomas Tuchel‘s side have finished third in the Premier League. While they fell short twice against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and the F.A Cup finals. They also reached the quarterfinal of the Champions League before falling short to eventual Champions Real Madrid. 

Chelsea tried to keep hold of their star defender. However, their ownership situation has prevented them from doing early business. And this helped Real Madrid to make the swoop and get the deal done. 

Antonio Rudiger is included in the Champions League team of the season:

Despite failing to win any trophy. The 29-year-old was exceptional this season. He made nine appearances in the Champions League. And he scored and assisted one goal each. Meanwhile, he also kept five clean sheets. 

The Germany international will be joining a club that already has Eder Militao, David Alaba, and Nacho Fernández in their squad. So, following the arrival of Antonio Rudiger. Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti will have strong defensive options. 

After missing out on the opportunity to sign Kylian Mbappe. The record Champions League winners have decided to strengthen other areas of the squad. Following bolstering the backline. They are eyeing to strengthen the midfield as well.
