Two players emerge as undroppables at Chelsea as Poch faces Nkunku dilemma

Chelsea showed real grit and determination to get secure all three points at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Chelsea had taken an early 2-0 lead, but Brighton scored one right before the sending off of Conor Gallagher in the dying moments of the first half.

The Blues had to play the second half with 10-men and just a one goal lead. They did make it a 2-goal lead as Enzo converted a penalty to score the third goal. Brighton did score again in injury time to make it 3-2, but by then it was too late for a comback.

The Brighton match gives Chelsea two new undroppables

Enzo Fernandez was outstanding this weekend. Of course his goals make his performance stand out even more but his progressive play was particularly impressive. Enzo registered more passes into the final third – with five to his name – than any other player on the pitch at the Bridge.

Levi Colwill, the other Chelsea goal scorer, was also outstanding on the day against Brighton. He was playing out-of-position as a replacement for the suspended Marc Cucurella at left-back, but he made the position his own. His goal was also just a cherry on top of an excellent performance. The Englishman’s performance surely must’ve give the manager a huge dilemma for the next match, whether to play a natural left-back or continue with Colwill.

Pochettino has a Nkunku-sized decision to make

Christopher Nkunku is close to returning to the squad following a lengthy injury layoff. The France international has been training with his teammates at Cobham over the past fortnight but was not quite ready to make the squad on Sunday.

Nkunku could do so in Manchester though, with a couple more days of training under his belt. Pochettino, however, faces a big decision whether or not to include the Frenchman in the squad. The 26-year-old almost certainly will not be ready to start the game.
