Two Premier League clubs to battle for Kingsley Coman

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

The Premier League giants, Chelsea, and Manchester United will be fighting to land the French winger in the coming summer. Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman will be the hot topic for the next few months. His refusal to sign a new improved contract with the Bavarians made the commotions among European clubs.

Kingsley Coman joined Bayern in 2015 and has been an important addition for them. He clutched the only goal in the 2020 Champions League final against PSG showing his big game influence. Thanks to that goal, Bayern Munich went on to win the sextuple.

Chelsea’s interest in Coman arrived after their own winger, Christian Pulisic is said to be unsettled at the club. Manchester United are also on high alert since they are in dire need of a winger too. His ending up for either of the clubs will depend completely on who will be willing to put aside his hefty salary requirements.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea are currently in the hunt for a Champions League spot. They are 2nd and 4th respectively in the Premier League with only 4 points separating them. Thanks to Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea has closed in a huge gap and reentered the top-4. Although United are closer to the top, overtaking Manchester City to win the Premier League title looks unattainable.

Will Kingsley Coman replace Christian Pulisic at Chelsea?

Of course, he handed Bayern the Champions League. An impact like that will definitely boost a player’s value in the market. He is also having a great season at the German club. This season he has scored 6 and assisted 13 goals in 27 appearances. Bayern is a great admirer the 24-year-old and wanted to keep him at the club way past 2023, his current contract period. But it is said that the improved deal did not match Coman’s expectation resulting in him rejecting it.

Christian Pulisic is also a player to watch out for. He has a lot of admirers too. Since his departure rumours began to spread, many clubs have shown their interests. Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are the clubs said to be keeping tabs on him.

Pulisic was tipped to be the next Eden Hazard as his playing style mirrored him. However, since Thomas Tuchel’s arrival, the American star is yet to make a start. He has played only 134 minutes, all coming from the bench.

“I cannot say anything but positive things about him [Pulisic], Maybe his problem is that from Dortmund I know how strong he is from the bench. I think he only started for us in the cup game.

In the end, it’s my responsibility and my fault but it is a bit unfair but I know what an impact he can have in the last 20-30 mins [off the bench]. He was unlucky in the last games, it is not a lack of trust or lack of quality, we just have to be patient.” – Thomas Tuchel on Christian Pulisic’s play time

Winger shows interest in playing in England

Chelsea is one of the player’s long admirer. Back in 2019, when Callum Hudson-Odoi’s future was uncertain as he was linked with Bayern, The Blues kept an eye on this young winger. But that didn’t go through, so they stopped pursuing him. Now after 2 years, Pulisic is said to be uncertain, making them pull out the old list. If Pulisic remains unhappy and requests an exit, Chelsea will definitely cash in for Kingsley Coman.

Coman is entering his final 2 years of the contract and if a contract renewal doesn’t happen, Bayern will try to offload him. Chelsea’s move for Coman depends on Pulisic. But if put in a scenario, it won’t be easy as there are strong competitors. Manchester United is the closest competitor to them. The Red Devils need a winger to complete their incomplete attack and they see a suitable fit in Kingsley Coman. Whichever club is prepared to match his rumoured £400,000 weekly wage will be landing him as the player has also shown interest in playing in England.
