India were handed their first defeat of their 2023 U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers campaign. UAE narrowly sneaked in a victory, courtsey of a late penalty and a commanding second-half performance.

Despite the impressive defensive performance by India, it was the penalty that decided the final outcome of the game. UAE snatched a 1-0 victory against India giving an interesting player ratings section.

UAE 1-0 India : Player Ratings

Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem (8.5/10): Probably the brightest player for India throughout the game. Made a number of crucial saves to keep the game alive until the penalty. The penalty was the only thing that did not go right for him.

Asish Rai (7/10): Made a good number of runs down the wings to put UAE under pressure. Put out solid defensive performances as well making a good number of tackles and clearances.

Deepak Tangri (6/10): Had a decent game from the back. Held out the UAE attack on a number of occasions. Recorded 6 clearances and a block in a difficult game.

Narendra Gahlot (6/10): Made a game-high 9 clearances throughout the game. Made an important tackle along with 2 interceptions.

Akash Mishra (6/10): Burst down the flanks on a number of occasions and was defensively alert as well. Recorded 5 interceptions and 6 clearances throughout the game.

Lalengmawia (6.5/10): Played out the role of a holding midfielder with composure in a game that demanded a lot of concentration. Blocked 2 shots, made a key pass and had a go at the goal.

Suresh Singh Wangjam (6/10): The skipper was not at his usual best but did put on an average shift. He made 3 key passes and 2 interceptions. However, he gave away the penalty that ultimately cost the team.

Jeakson Singh (6/10): An average performance from the otherwise vibrant midfielder. Made 2 interceptions and clearances each.

Vikram Pratap Singh (6.5/10): His work rate was a crucial part that held the team. Held the UAE attack well along with his wing-back.

Rahim Ali (6/10): Did not have a major impact upfront but dropped back to make a good number of clearances.

Rahul KP (6.5/10): Threatened UAE with a disallowed goal but tracked back and moved up whenever needed.

Substitutes

Sumit Rathi (5/10): Came in for Vikram Pratap Singh and was deployed at left-back. Made an error that went on to give UAE the decisive penalty.

Princeton Rebello (6.5/10): Replaced Asish Rai and joined the midfield. Played a good number of impressive passes in the limited time he had on the pitch.

Amarjit Singh Kiyam (6/10): Made a second consecutive appearance off the bench. Held the defence but could not make a major impact.
