Vignesh Dakshinamurthy goes to replace Akash Mishra

2021–22 season’s Hero ISL Champion Hyderabad FC have signed Vignesh Dakshinamurthy to fill the void left by Akash Mishra. Akash was an integral part of Hyderabad’s success in the last two seasons. But he joined Mumbai City FC earlier in this transfer window.

Vignesh becomes the first signing for The Yellow and Black Army. The 25-year-old left back joins the club on a four-year deal ahead of the 2023–24 season for an undisclosed transfer fee.

Vignesh Dakshinamurthy, Player Profile:

Vignesh, a Srirampura-born defender, started his career with Ozone FC in Bengaluru. Later, he got signed by Mumbai City FC. Playing for Mumbai at the highest level of Club Football, Vignesh became one of the best young fullbacks in India.

Vignesh has made more than fifty appearances for The Islanders. With Mumbai City FC, he won the ISL shield twice in 2020–21 and 2022–23 and became the champion in 2020–21. He was also part of Mumbai’s AFC Champions League campaign in 2020.

Vignesh also made his debut for the Indian National Team in 2018. He was also in the runners-up squad of the SAFF Championship in 2018.

How will Vignesh be effective for Hyderabad?

In the left back position, HFC only has Manoj Mohammad following the departure of Mishra. For the upcoming season, Vignesh is going to be the first choice LB to fit into the starting line-up.

He is in the early stages of his prime. He is young, talented, and full of promise. The versatile fullback has swift speed throughout the flanks, a good tendency to overlap, and also has good recovery senses.

If he adapts well to the yellow and black jersey, then he will have a successful career ahead of him with the club. Along with the player, the club will also benefit from having such a mature, speedy full-back.

Owner’s sayings and player’s views:

After sealing the deal, Hyderabad FC owner Varun Tripuraneni said,

Vignesh will be a long-term asset for Hyderabad FC, and we believe he will add a lot of strength to our team in the coming seasons.”

Speaking on his move, an excited Vignesh said,

“I’m very excited to join Hyderabad FC. Over the last few seasons, the club has shown immense faith in young Indian players, and I believe this is the best place for the next stage of my career. I’m thankful to the management for showing a lot of faith in me. We have an exciting squad at the club, and I can’t wait to get down to the field and put on the yellow and black jersey.”
