Some fans of both clubs are likely to be skeptical about the proposed alliance. As the rivalry between the two teams is one of the fiercest in German football. However, Watzke has argued that the move could be beneficial for both clubs. As it would allow them to share resources and expertise, and potentially help them to compete more effectively against the other top teams in Europe.

However, the fact that the two clubs are even considering such a move is a sign of the changing landscape of European football, and the increasing pressure on clubs to find new ways to stay competitive.

What did Watzke say?

“I’ve had a lot of talks over the past few days. Including with Oliver Kahn and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. FC Bayern must be involved in all topics. In order to create a solidarity within the DFB ahead of Euro 2024. This is very important,”

Watzke.

“I didn’t speak to Herbert Hainer, but to Kahn and Rummenigge. I could very well imagine Oliver Kahn becoming part of the DFL board. That would make me happy. We have to get involved together.”
