Will be shocked if Thiago Alcantara doesn’t depart from Liverpool next summer

Thiago Alcantara has continuously struggled with fitness problems not only for Liverpool but all over this career. The 31-year-old Spanis midfielder played his last match for Liverpool on 27 April 2023 against West Ham United. After this, he went for hip flexor surgery.

Paul Merson wrote for Sportskeeda‘s prediction this week,

“Thiago Alcantara has been incredibly unlucky with injuries, but I’d be shocked if he were to stay at Liverpool beyond this season.”

Merson Further wrote that

The Reds are unlikely to offload Alcantara in January because he’s still a top player when he’s fit, but at the end of the season.

Alcantara career so far

Thiago Alcantara is often regarded as one of the best midfielders of his generation for his accurate passes and technical skills

Thiago started his senior career with Barcelona in 2008 then he moved to Bayern in 2013 & then to Liverpool in 2020.

Liverpool signed Thiago Alcantara in 2020 for 4 years from Bayern Munich for only £20 million. Thiago played only 18 league matches last season which is a concern for Liverpool management. This is going to be the last season for him. He has not yet played a single match for the Anfield side this season.

When is Thiago Returning?

Thiago was expected to return after the international break.

He suffered 2 setbacks in his rehab due to which he didn’t return to training yet. Thiago Alcantara can return at any moment in November or December.

What if Liverpool part away from Alcantara?

Liverpool are doing great even in the absence of Thiago Alcantara.

New signings like Alexis Mac Allister, Dominick Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch are doing great in midfield.

He is still 31 and many European clubs will try to sign him.

Thiago‘s future is up in the air. Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Saudi Arabian clubs have also shown interest in him.
