Wolves 2-1 Chelsea: Analysis

There were no significant chances created in the first half excluding the shot from Neto, Kurt Zouma’s shot hit at the crossbar, and No penalty decision by VAR.

Kai Havertz once again was in his poor form. However, Olivier Giroud found the back of the net in the 50th minute. Shortly after that, Fabian Ruiz was scored but he was offside.

Daniel Podence equalized in the 66th minute after some minor defence communication breakdown by the Blues.

Once again, VAR turned down a penalty claim but this time, for the Wolves. However, the winner came from a rocket-shot scored by Portuguese Pedro Neto in the last minute of the extra time.

Notable Performances :

Ben Chilwell (7.4/10) – He was exceptional in defence and had stopped the dangerous creativity of Nelson Semedo at times. Surely, 23-year-old left-back is back to form after bagging a wonderful assist.

Daniel Podence (7.7/10) – He performed well whenever needed, with defence as well as scoring the equalizer. Eventually, he was a real threat in the match.

Pedro Neto (8.4/10) – Truly deserve to be the Man of the Match for this game. His stoppage-time winning goal was truly impressive.

Wolverhampton are on a great run and next travel to face Burnley on 21st December whereas Chelsea host West Ham United on 22nd December in the Premier League.

Chelsea need to come back from two consecutive defeats in the Premier League. However, their chances of winning the title are becoming far lesser due to the current inconsistency.
