Against Almeria, a Barcelona defender should be able to play

Against Almeria

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is expected to be available to play against Almeria after a successful return from injury. Pique has been out of action for the past month due to a knee problem that he sustained in Barcelona’s 3-0 victory over Sevilla.

Pique’s absence was a major blow for Barcelona, who have been struggling defensively in recent weeks. The Catalan giants have conceded nine goals in their last five La Liga matches, including a shock 3-1 defeat to Cadiz.

However, Pique’s return to fitness will be a major boost for Barcelona, who will be looking to get back to winning ways against Almeria. The 34-year-old has been one of the best defenders. La Liga over the past decade is a vital component of Barcelona’s defence.

Pique’s leadership and experience will also be important for Barcelona, who have been struggling to find consistency this season. The Catalan giants are currently third in La Liga, seven points behind leaders Atletico Madrid.

What tactics was used against Almeria

Pique’s return to fitness will also be welcome by new Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez, who took charge of the club in November. Xavi has made it clear that he wants Barcelona to play a more possession-based style of football. Pique’s ability to play out from the back will be crucial in this regard.

However, Pique’s return to the starting lineup will also raise questions about who will partner him in defence. Clement Lenglet has been the preferred option this season, but the Frenchman has struggled for form in recent weeks.

Barcelona’s other options at centre-back include Eric Garcia. Who has been impressive in his few appearances this season, and Ronald Araujo. Who has been out of action since November due to injury.

Regardless of who starts alongside Pique, Barcelona will be looking to keep a clean sheet against Almeria. The Andalusian side are currently 14th in La Liga and have struggled for form in recent weeks, winning just one of their last five matches.
