Arda Guler of Real Madrid says why he didn’t accept PSG’s offer

PSG youngster duo Arsenal

During the last summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain underwent a shift in their transfer philosophy. The club targeting young, motivating players who were eager to prove themselves. And thus fully committed to the club. Arda Guler was among the players PSG wanted as a potential addition to their squad.

The 18-year-old spent the previous season at Fenerbahçe before his transfer to Real Madrid during the summer. However, PSG had expressed interest in the midfielder. A recent report sheds light on the details of what transpired behind the scenes in their pursuit of him.

What did Arda Guler say?

According to Defensa Central, the Turkish international had the option to join PSG during the last summer transfer window if he so wished. PSG’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, had strong intentions of securing the teenager’s services. Hence, he was preparing to offer €20 million to make the transfer happen.

In contrast, Arda Guler did not find the Paris Saint-Germain project appealing, which led him to choose to join Real Madrid instead. Consequently, the report highlights that this decision came as a significant disappointment to Nasser Al-Khelaifi. He believed that PSG’s financial offer would have persuaded the young attacking midfielder to opt for their club.

Nevertheless, despite not securing Arda Guler, the Ligue 1 giants had a successful summer transfer window. They managed to acquire several high-quality young players. Who are determining to make a mark and shifted their focus away from marquee superstar signings. This new approach has the potential to be beneficial for PSG’s long-term plans and squad development.
