Arne Slot,Feyenoord manager, eager to coach FC Barcelona

In an interview with ESPN.nl, Feyenoord manager Arne Slot stated that he would like to coach FC Barcelona in the future. Arne Slot took over as manager of Feyenoord in the summer of 2021 and has done well with the squad in his brief tenure.

Arne Slot wants to coach Blaugrana in near future

After finishing third behind AFC Ajax and PSV last season, the 44-year-old has led Feyenoord to the top of the Eredivisie rankings this season. Slot’s squad has taken an eight-point lead over other Dutch powers Ajax and PSV. Furthermore, Feyenoord were on the verge of qualifying for the UEFA Europa League semi-finals, with a one-goal lead over Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma heading into quarter-final second leg. But unfortunately they lost to Roma 4-1 in second leg. Slot praised Roma FC’s outstanding performance during his post-match press conference.

“We know how good Mourinho is at taking players to the limit. The team fought for him. If you can win against this Feyenoord, you must be very good.”

Naturally, Slot’s work has drawn attention from teams all throughout Europe. Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, and Crystal Palace all said to be interested in the 44-year-old Dutch tactician.
While Slot believes the Premier League is the best league in Europe. When asked to select one team he would love to coach, he said “Barcelona”. The 44-year-old has revealed that he favours Pep Guardiola over Jose Mourinho. He might be interested in coaching Barcelona, but that is doubtful for the time being.

Since taking over as coach in November 2021, Xavi Hernandez has done an excellent job. The Blaugrana’s 43-year-old club veteran is on his way to leading them to their first La Liga title since 2019.
With his contract set to expire in 2024, Barcelona is already negotiating to extend it by two years, keeping him with the club until 2026.
