Arsenal is interested in RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams. This is according to The Athletic who reports that the Gunners are attracted to the versatility of the US international.
Tyler Adams has been a key figure in the RB Leipzig setup. Arsenal had a very disappointing season as they finished 8th in the Premier League, missing out on the European competitions for the first time in 25 years.
The club is hence looking to rebuild their squad and has identified Tyler Adams as a part of this. With a contract till 2025, signing the American won’t be cheap for Arsenal.
ADAM THE AMERICAN MIDFIELDER
Tyler Adams is a product of the Red Bull academy. The American started his career with the New York Red Bulls and in 2019 moved to Germany to join RB Leipzig.
A versatile player, Adams has predominantly played in the defensive midfield role. However, he has also played in the right side of the midfield as well as featured on the right wing-back role. An excellent passer of the ball, Adams is also good at holding the ball.
The 22-year-old has featured 66 times for the Die Roten Bullen in all competitions and has scored 2 goals. He has appeared 27 times for Leipzig in this season of the Bundesliga, helping them to a second-place finish in the table.
ARSENAL TO USE ADAM IN THEIR REBUILD
Arsenal is looking to overhaul the squad and will sell some of their senior players this summer. Two of the players on the chopping block are Granit Xhaka and Hector Bellerin.
Thomas Partey had an underperforming season filled with injury while Mohamed Elneny only having one more year in the contract. This means that if Arsenal sells Xhaka this summer they will not have enough cover in the defensive midfield. Thus they will want to bring in a fresh face in the defensive midfield role and Adam fits that bill.
Similarly, Bellerin could also be sold, leaving only Cedric Soares as the only traditional right-back. While Callum Chambers have played in that position towards the end of the season, they will need reinforcement. Adams versatility means that he can be even used on the right-hand side as a full-back.
With changes imminent, it will be a smart move if Arsenal can land Tyler Adams this summer. However, with a contract running till 2025, Leipzig will not be eager to sell their star, meaning that Arsenal would have to spend big to get his signature.
