Aubameyang receives Laliga winners’ medal despite playing just eight minutes for Barca

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

After a poor season at Chelsea, Aubameyang is expected to receive his first league winner’s medal. After falling out with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, the Gabonese attacker joined Barcelona on a free transfer in January 2022. He performed admirably for the Catalan giants, netting 11 goals in 17 league appearances. These spectacular stats forced Chelsea to spend £10 million to bring him to Stamford Bridge. Indeed, Aubameyang had previously appeared for eight minutes in Barcelona’s season opener against Rayo Vallecano. He came in as a substitute replacing Jordi Alba with the score at 0-0.

Aubameyang will receive Laliga winners’ medal

The striker is now an official La Liga champion. In addition he will receive a winners’ medal after Barcelona became champions. Barcelona are laliga champions for the 27th time following their 4-2 triumph over Espanyol in the Catalan derby over the weekend. Earlier this season, Aubameyang was seen celebrating with Barcelona players at Camp Nou after the club defeated Real Madrid in the Clasico. The former Barca winger also liked a picture from the official Barcelona account on Twitter. The Twitter post validated the Blaugrana’s title success with a list of Barcelona players including Auba.

Apart from Aubameyang, Gerard Pique, Hector Bellerin, and Memphis Depay are all poised to get medals for their contributions to Barcelona during the 2022-23 La Liga season.

Aubameyang has shown interest for a return to Barcelona in the upcoming transfer window. He is struggling with Chelsea in the Premier League. He made just five starts and scored once. DjamLife asked Aubameyang about his next club, and the seasoned striker said, “No idea. We’ll see what happens. I like Barcelona”. According to Toni Juanmarti, a Spanish journalist, Barcelona has also removed Aubameyang from their priority list, despite indications that the Gabonese international is willing to rejoin the Catalans even for the lowest pay . Hence only time will decide Aubameyang’s fate.
