As per a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, both Barcelona and Real Madrid are aware of the potential cost to acquire Florian Wirtz. That is from Bayer Leverkusen in the 2024 summer transfer window. It’s stated that the Bundesliga club is seeking a fee of approximately €100 million to release the 20-year-old prodigious talent.

Florian Wirtz hails from Pulheim. He embarked on his youth football journey at SV Grun-Weiss Brauweiler before making the transition to 1.FC Koln. However, it was after his move to Bayer Leverkusen in January 2020 that the German international catapulted to prominence. He initially made a name for himself in the youth divisions before earning a spot in the first-team squad. Eventually becoming the fourth-youngest debutant in the history of the Bundesliga.

The 20-year-old prodigious talent, Florian Wirtz, has encountered challenges with fitness. Including a significant knee injury that affected him last year. Nevertheless, Wirtz has made a commendable recovery from this setback and has commenced the new season in excellent form. He has contributed significantly, tallying three goals and three assists in seven appearances thus far.

Clubs that are targeting Florian Wirtz

Wirtz’s impressive development at Bayer Leverkusen has not escaped the notice of some of the most prominent clubs in Europe. Manchester City could be among his suitors next year, as Pep Guardiola considers a succession plan for Kevin De Bruyne. Additionally, Barcelona and Real Madrid have also expressed interest in acquiring the talented young player.

Barcelona could certainly benefit from the versatility that Wirtz brings to the midfield. Thus, allowing him to perform effectively both in the middle of the park and in the attacking third. Given the uncertainty surrounding Joao Felix’s permanent move to Barcelona next year, the 20-year-old German prodigy appears to be a viable target. However, his €100 million price tag might pose a financial challenge for the Blaugrana.

Real Madrid could find themselves in a favorable position to secure the young talent from Bayer Leverkusen in 2024. As Luka Modric and Toni Kroos approach the later stages of their illustrious careers, the Merengues are in need of a successor in midfield. Florian Wirtz emerges as a promising candidate for Real Madrid. They might be in a financial position to meet the €100 million price tag for his acquisition.

The competition to secure Florian Wirtz’s services is intensifying, with Bayern Munich also expressing interest in the young talent. It will indeed be intriguing to observe whether any of the potential suitors are prepared to meet the €100 million price tag to acquire him next year, as the race for his signature heats up.
