Giovanni Di Lorenzo began his career playing for numerous obscure Italian teams. He gained notoriety while playing for Empoli for two years before signing with a major team in July 2019. And the international fullback from Italy has made a name for himself as one of the finest in Serie A since joining Napoli.

The 29-year-old is also Italy’s first-choice right-back and played a key role in their UEFA Euro 2020 victory. Di Lorenzo has played for Napoli more than 150 times, contributing nine goals and 25 assists. And a number of influential parties, notably FC Barcelona, have been interested in the player’s development.

Will Barcelona buy Giovanni Di Lorenzo?

In the summer transfer window, Barcelona will look for a right-back. However, Barcelona only signed the Spaniard as a last-minute replacement after failing to sign Juan Foyth and Cesar Azpilicueta. Additionally, Bellerin will probably leave Camp Nou next year after failing to make an impact.

Therefore, the Catalan giants must once Giovanni Di Lorenzo pounce on the right-back market. Barcelona will also require a permanent answer since that Sergi Roberto is no longer a reliable player. Thus, a number of right-backs, notably Benjamin Pavard, have come to Barcelona’s attention as potential summer transfers. However, Juan Foyth is the Blaugrana’s main goal.

The Argentine international’s release clause, though, makes him too pricey for Barcelona. And it’s improbable that the Catalan team would sign Foyth during the summer transfer window. Italian international Di Lorenzo, 29, has recently been a competitive alternative. And since Barcelona asked Napoli for his price tag, it may be reasonable.

The Catalan giants have so initiated contact with Giovanni Di Lorenzo with the Napoli skipper. Also intriguing will be to see whether the 29-year-old international Italian joins Barcelona in the summer. Di Lorenzo has become an attractive target for the Blaugrana for the time being.
