FC Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen earlier this week. However, the club is still quite active in the transfer market. Jules Kounde, is a name that has been heavily linked with the Blaugrana.
Despite acquiring the services of Christensen, Barcelona still wish to add another centre-back to their squad. Jules Kounde has been performing consistently for the Andalusians and has been on the radar for top European clubs.
However, Chelsea and Barcelona particularly pushed for the signature of Kounde. Chelsea have dropped out of the race to sign the French defender as Sevilla have refused to compromise on the asking price for the defender.
Barcelona are willing to offer multiple players in exchange to sign Jules Kounde
Sevilla has refused to compromise on the asking price for the ace defender. In order to sign Kounde, Barcelona will have to cough up a fee in the region of €70 million to lure the defender. However, the amount is possibly beyond the financial prowess of Barcelona at this stage.
To sweeten the deal for both clubs, Barcelona are looking to offer Sevilla a player-plus-cash deal. Moreover, it is understood that Barcelona are willing to offer more than one player as part of the deal.
Sergino Dest is one of the first names to have popped up on the list. Barcelona is willing to offer Dest as part of an exchange deal to lure Kounde. The Blaugrana were looking to offload the player and if an exchange plus cash can be agreed then it will become a win-win situation for the club.
Memphis Depay has been recently been touted as one of the players that could be included in the deal. Barcelona is looking to offer Dest and Depay in a players plus cash deal for Jules Kounde. The club feels it could tempt the Andalusians to part ways with Kounde by offering the two aforementioned players.
Will Sevilla be tempted to sell Kounde in such an arrangement?
Sevilla has not possessed a potent striker since Wissam Ben Yedder was sold in August 2019 to AS Monaco. Adding someone like Memphis Depay to the squad could potentially be a lucrative opportunity for Sevilla.
Sergino Dest can help Sevilla utilize Jesus Navas in a more attacking role and provide a qualitative option for either wing-back position. However, Sevilla is not desperate to sign players in these respective positions. Jules Kounde is one of their best players and the heartbeat of the defence. The French defender is arguably the best defender in La Liga.
Barcelona will be hopeful that such an offer is tempting enough. However, it is quite possible that the Blaugrana will be forced to do more to get their man.
