Barcelona enjoying a great start to the season

Julian Araujo

The month of October has arrived and so has the important games for Barcelona. These are the do-or-die games for the Catalans that will decide their fate in UCL and La Liga. So far, they have only been beaten by german champions Bayern Munich. Other than that, the team has nearly been flawless with brilliant performances all over the pitch. Robert Lewandowski and Ousmane Dembele look in blistering form as they look to guide the team toward glory. September month proved to be very easy for the club as the international break also arrived. The likes of Ansu Fati, and Bellerin had some much-needed rest and trained in isolation.

But things did not go as planned for Barcelona. Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde are out for at least a month suffering injuries in an international break. Araujo underwent surgery last week in Finland and will try to come back as soon as possible. As for Kounde, he might just be back in time for the Clasico. Barcelona plays some big games this month and these injuries will be a big blow for the defense. Also, the dutch duo of Depay and Frenkie are also out with Injuries. Hector Bellerin also got a knock in his left leg and will be out for some time. The squad is very thin at the moment and the likes of Pique, and Ferran have to step up.

The team plays the likes of Inter Milan twice, Bayern Munich, and the much-awaited fixture with Real Madrid. The loss of Araujo and Kounde will be big but Xavi will hope that his team comes up. This is where the big squad for Barcelona comes in hand. The signing of Christensen will be very handy at this time with the Danish CB impressing Xavi. This is a make-or-break month for the Catalans where their fate in the Champions League will be decided. Also, Real Madrid dropped points this weekend which puts them level on points with Barcelona. The El Clasico will be very interesting given the recent form of both teams.

Barcelona still have financial issues to solve

With most things going right on the pitch, the same may or may not be said for off the pitch. The Catalans have financial issues on their head that they have to resolve at a particular time. Barcelona are now interested in Youth prospect Alberto Moleiro. The 19-year-old is one of the most talented teenagers around and has attracted attention from a lot of clubs. But Barcelona could now have to pay £53million if they are to get him.

Moleiro has signed a new deal with Las Palmas which has increased his release clause to £26.5m. But if Las Palmas manages to get a promotion and come to La Liga, then the release clause will be doubled. As things stand, they are top of their league and might just be able to get in La Liga again. So, the Catalans will have to pay a hefty price if they try to get him next summer. They will thus make every effort to get Moleiro in January.
