Barcelona face an injury crisis in October

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

October is going to be a make-or-break month for Barcelona. The Catalans play do-or-die games to decide their fate in UCL and La Liga. So far, they were only been beaten by german champions Bayern Munich. But now, a loss to Intern Milan has put them in a very difficult position. Robert Lewandowski and Ousmane Dembele look to get back to their blistering form as they look to guide the team toward glory. September month was not a problem for the club as the international break also arrived. The likes of Ansu Fati, and Bellerin had some much-needed rest and trained in isolation.

But things did not go as planned for Barcelona. Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde picked up knocks on international duty. The duo are out for at least a month. Araujo underwent surgery last week in Finland and will try to come back as soon as possible. As for Kounde, he might just be back in time for the Clasico. These injuries are a big blow for Xavi. Also, the dutch duo of Depay and Frenkie are also out with Injuries. Hector Bellerin also got a knock in his left leg and will be out for some time.

The team plays the likes of Inter Milan Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in a span of 3 weeks. The loss of Araujo and Kounde will be big but Xavi will hope that his team comes up. This is where the big squad for Barcelona would have come in hand. But now Kessie and Christensen have also been sidelined in the game against Inter. This is a make-or-break month for the Catalans where their fate in the Champions League will be decided. Also, Real Madrid dropped points this weekend which puts them level on points with Barcelona. A potential title decider this early into the season will be very interesting.

Barcelona might promote a youth duo to the first team

The extent of Barcelona’s injury woes is never-ending. It is a big list of players that Xavi and his management will miss in this crucial part of the season. The squad is very thin at the moment which will pose major problems for the manager. Their fate in the UCL is hanging by the thread as they will look to get results against Inter and Bayern.

Xavi is now considering promoting youngsters from the youth team. The defensive duo of Chadi Riad and Pelayo Fernandez are now potential options for Barcelona to look at. They have been absolutely rock solid for Barca B who have not conceded a goal in almost 400 minutes. Xavi might just rely on them to provide cover for Pique and Eric.
