Barcelona faces Bayern Munich this Tuesday in what will be one of the biggest UCL clashes this season. Both teams are looking in fine form in their respective leagues. Bayern Munich although were going through a rough patch but defeated Inter Milan at the San Siro. Barcelona ran all over Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday night. They are looking in ruthless form with Lewandowski leading the line. He will be eager to face his former club and feels that Barcelona are ready for the challenge. This clash will be key in deciding who will be topping the group.
Barcelona have now got a big boost as a key Bayern Munich player was injured in the training. Frenchman Kingsley Coman will be missing the Barcelona clash as Julian Nagelsmann confirmed. It is still not known what is the extent of the injury and whether it is a tear or a sprain. But if Coman misses the clash, it will be a big loss for Bayern and a blessing in disguise for Barcelona. The Catalans have really suffered a lot against the Bavarians in recent times. They were at the end of humiliations after humiliations both at the Camp Nou and the Allianz Arena.
However, this time things may just be a lot different. Barcelona are one of the favorites for the UCL. They have got a world-class squad with hunger and dedication and will try to top the group over Bayern Munich. The Bavarians will be a big threat in attack with the likes of Sadio Mane, Leroy Sane, and Gnabry and the Barcelona defence will have to be wary of it. Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde will have to be at the top of their game as major responsibility will lie on their shoulders to stop Bayern. Marc Andre Ter Stegen also has returned to his best form which is a big relief for Barcelona.
Can Barcelona pass the Bayern test?
For 3 consecutive years, Bayern Munich have humbled Barcelona in the UCL. 2020 saw Barcelona get battered 8-2 by the Bavarians. And last year, they were beaten 3-0 at home as well as away to Bayern. They are probably the team that poses the most problems to the Blaugranas. So, it will be the biggest test yet for Barcelona as they will try to make it out of their group. Beating Bayern Munich or even getting a decent result against them will be a positive thing for the Blaugranas.
But it feels like the Catalans are ready to face Bayern and go neck to neck with them. They finally have a squad that is capable of winning the big European trophies. The likes of Raphinha, Lewandowski, and Dembele will be a big threat to a team like Bayern Munich also. Bayern are wary of the Catalans and the form they are in. It will be a big statement by the Blaugranas if they can silence Bayern Munich next week.
