Barcelona looking to improve relations with in-form winger

Barcelona's new home kit

Barcelona met with Ousmane Dembele’s agent in Morocco this week ahead of contract talks.

He has yet to repay a single penny paid for him with performances. The young Frenchman has a history of injuries.

Mateu Alemany, the director of Barcelona, and Moussa Sissoko, Dembele’s representative, met in Marrakesh on Monday.

The purpose of the meeting was to create a platform that would allow negotiations to reduce past tension between the two parties.

When Alemany announced Dembele would have to leave the club and whether he would not play for them again after rejecting Barcelona’s contract offer.

Dembele has turned his Barcelona career around under the management of Xavi

The Frenchman had impressed coaches and earned the respect of Barcelona manager Xavi.

Frenkie de Jong, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferran Torres (three times), Ronald Araujo, and Gerard Pique all had big scoring chances thanks to Dembele.
Dembele’s situation is one of the most remarkable turnarounds in a love-hate football relationship I can recall, let alone his tumultuous four seasons with the Camp Nou club.

In recent weeks, the ex-Borussia Dortmund attacker has been one of Barcelona’s best players.

With 10 assists in La Liga, he has established himself as a true creative force.

Dembele has played some of his best football for the club.

The 24-year-old Frenchman’s contract at Camp Nou is coming to an end in the coming months.

Dembele has been linked with a contract extension following his strong relationship with Xavi.

Ousmane Dembele has matched Karim Benzema and Lionel Messi in the European assist charts as calls for Barcelona.

Dembele has enjoyed an impressive run of form since returning to Xavi’s line-up in February.

He also played a key role in Barca’s rise to second in La Liga. Also progression to the latter stages of the Europa League.

Dembele is now top of the Liga assist charts alongside Real Madrid’s Benzema with 11 this season.

Nine of Dembele’s assists have come since the turn of the year, a number that can only be equaled by Barca legend Messi in 2022 as he has become a regular provider for his Paris Saint-Germain team-mates in Ligue 1.

The 24-year-old registered his 11th assist of the season during their latest match against Levante as the Blaugrana went on to win the contest 3-2.
