With Barcelona in a precarious position as a result of their Financial Fair Play concerns, a number of players may be permitted to depart during the summer transfer window in order to reduce the pay budget and produce revenue. At the same time, some stars are considered ‘untouchable,’ and no offers will be entertained for them.

Barcelona is in no mood to sell Christensen

And, according to SPORT, last summer’s signing Andreas Christensen is in the ‘untouchable’ category, with Barcelona reportedly informing his camp that he is ‘non-transferable’. In reality, La Liga’s leaders want to give the Danish international a new deal and will begin negotiations next year. Christensen joined Barça on a free transfer from Chelsea. The 27-year-old has had some fitness issues, but when he is healthy and available, he forms a strong pairing with Ronald Araujo.

The Danish international’s performances attracted interest of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United. Aston Villa were recently linked as Mateu Alemany, who is due to depart Barcelona for the Premier League team, wants to bring Christensen with him. The Catalan heavyweights, however, have made it clear that the former Chelsea ace is not for sale this summer. Despite the fact that his departure would offer the club with a significant financial boost, Barca wouldn’t sell him.

Christensen joined Barcelona for free last year and signed a four-year contract until 2026. The defender is thought to be pleased and established at the club. In addition the Blaugrana has shown their delight with how the transfer has gone. Given his age and performances, the Catalans want to reward the Dane with a new deal. Hence they intend to begin negotiations on a renewal next year, once their FFP situation has improved.
