Barcelona may sign Diaz for just €6 million

Fabricio Diaz has emerged as Barcelona’s next possibility as they search for a new midfielder. Barcelona is one of the clubs interested in Diaz ahead of next season, but they are joined in their pursuit by Villarreal, River Plate, Flamengo, and Girona.

According to Diario SPORT, Barcelona believes Diaz is an ideal match in midfield. They aim to use his strengths in the pivot position, maybe alongside Frenkie de Jong and Pedri. This comes on following the news of Barça allegedly meeting Diaz’s agent today. The player appears to be leaving Uruguay after the U-20 World Cup, putting Barça on high alert. However, Gerard Romero revealed today that Barcelona officials Jordi Cruyff and Mateu Alemany met with Diaz’s agent. The player might leave Uruguay following the end of the U-20 World Cup in June. According to the report, the Liverpool Montevideo midfielder might be available for less as €6 million. It could turn out to be an amazing steal given the youngster’s performance in South America. His technical abilities, combined with his aggressive playing style, could make him a great fit for Barcelona’s system.

Barca must not miss out on South American defensive midfielder

Barcelona have recently missed out on a number of South American players, including Enzo Fernandez, Endrick, and even Julian Alvarez. They are in negotiations to sign Athletico Paranaense’s Vitor Roque, but the deal appears complex, especially with Arsenal involved. As a result, the possibility of signing Fabricio Diaz could be enticing to the Catalans as they aim to strengthen their midfield ranks.

They are considering Ruben Neves, Martin Zubimendi, and Sofyan Amrabat as alternatives, but all have big price tags for a summer move. Any move for any player, including Diaz, will, however, be heavily dependent on their ability to decrease the pay cost, which has been exceeded by more than €200 million.
