Barcelona met with Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio

Jordi Alba

Piero Ausilio, Inter Sporting Director, met with his Barcelona director Mateu Alemany yesterday to explore a number of potential player transfers. According to Spanish reporter Gerard Romero, reporting about the Italian news portal TuttoMercatoWeb, the pair of executives discussed about midfielders Franck Kessie and Marcelo Brozovic, as well as wingback Jordi Alba.

Gerard Romero refutes ‘Gundogan transfer’ claims

El Chiringuito reported on Thursday that Manchester City player Ilkay Gundogan’s representative spoke with Barcelona director Mateu Alemany at the club offices. The encounter had lasted for more than an hour. Following that, reports surfaced suggesting that Gundogan’s transfer to Barcelona was nearly complete. And that the midfielder would sign a two-year contract with the club, with an option for an extra year. However, Gerard Romero has refuted those allegations of a meeting with Gundogan’s representation. He claimed that Barcelona spoke with Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio on Thursday rather than the Manchester City star’s agent.

Barcelona director Mateu Alemany met Piero Ausilio

According to Romero, Ausilio visited Barcelona’s Ciutat Esportiva training complex yesterday with an agent, Edoardo Crnjar. They met with Barcelona directors Alemany and Jordi Cruyff.
Crnjar is the founding father of Excellence Sport, a football agency that represents players such as Barcelona’s own Ronald Araujo.

Potential Swap deal: Alba-Gosens or Brozovic-Kessie

For quite some time, there have been speculations about prospective moves, notably swap transfers, between Inter and Barcelona. During the January transfer window, there were continuous whispers of a swap deal between Nerazzurri midfielder Brozovic and Blaugrana midfielder Kessie. While the swap did not take place, the links remain as former ACMilan Kessie is a long-term goal for Inter. Romero says that Brozovic is a significant target for Barcelona to replace Sergio Busquets.

In any case, the interaction between Inter and Barcelona appears to be going on, as Romero claims for TMW that another meeting between the two clubs’ Sporting Directors Ausilio and Alemany took place, with the pair’s names prominent in the discussion. According to the Spanish journalist, the two executives talked more than only Brozovic and Kessie. According to Romero, wingback Alba was also mentioned during the discussion. Despite the fact that the spanish was already connected with Inter last summer as a swap deal with Robin Gosens.
