Barcelona might sell Franck Kessie to generate revenue

Franck Kessie has already generated more El Clasico headlines in less than a year at Barcelona than many players have in their whole careers. The Ivory Coast international has not received much attention since joining Catalonia on a free transfer last summer. He was the man of the match when Barcelona defeated Real Madrid in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal. Kessie’s shot prompted an Eder Militao own-goal on the night. He also had another goalbound shot deflected by a teammate. When the two teams met again in La Liga less than 20 days later, Kessie scored a last-minute goal to send Los Blancos home empty-handed.

Franck Kessie willing to stay but Barcelona plans to sell him

According to SPORT, Kessie’s future at the club is in doubt. The 26-year-old has stated that he wants to continue at the club next season despite having enticing offers on the table. But Barcelona is opposed to his feelings. The Catalans are working around the clock to discover fresh sources of revenue through player sales. This would facilitate the arrivals they desire and ease the summer ordeal. Kessie is one of the players Barcelona wants to sell in June, and Xavi is expected to talk with him and convince him that leaving is the best option for all parties concerned.

After all, Barcelona is nearing an agreement with Ilkay Gundogan for a summer transfer. With Pedri, Gavi, and Frenkie de Jong already regular starts, Kessie’s role in the team will be small next season. The Ivorian midfielder has only made five La Liga starts this season and has contributed two goals. He also has 0.3 critical passes and slightly more than four defensive actions per game.

Kessie is generating a lot of interest from clubs in Italy, as well as from clubs in England. Despite his insistence on staying, Barça intends to sell him, along with other important players such as Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres.
