Barcelona Preparing to Sell 5 Players to Fund this Star

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Barcelona has taken it as a personal challenge to land their target. They will be trying all possible options in a measure to bring Erling Haaland to Camp Nou. According to reports, the Catalans are willing to part ways with 5 of their first-team players to prepare the funds.

Barcelona’s new president, Joan Laporta has made it crystal clear about his transfer plans. He is a great admirer of the Norwegian and planning to land him in the summer.

Laporta is also trying his best to convince Lionel Messi to sign a new contract at Barcelona. He is building a team that will be focused on Messi and Haaland.

Haaland became the youngest and the fastest player to score 20 Champions League goals. He scored it in only 14 matches, it took the Argentinian 41 games to do achieve the same.

Buying Haaland would mean a huge overhaul for the Blaugrana

It was pretty obvious that Barcelona will not be able to produce enough money to buy Haaland. They are in debt, which has surpassed £1 billion and they are even struggling to pay their own people.

Joan Laporta had resurrected Barcelona from a familiar situation back when he was the President in 2003. Although the purpose of his reelection was to clear the debt, he won’t let an opportunity like this slip out of his hands.

So they are going to do what any other club would do in such situations. They will be selling or sacrificing players to generate funds. Philippe Coutinho, Samuel Umtiti, Martin Braithwaite, Junior Firpo and Antoine Griezmann all have been transfer listed, according to reports.

Barcelona is also planning to release other players as free agents. It will help in lessening the load on the inflated wage bill.

Erling Haaland not the only signing for Barcelona?

Barcelona are planning to make more signings with the leftover funds after the signing of Erling Haaland. They are in the market for another striker. They will be signing either Sergio Aguero or Memphis Depay to partner with Haaland upfront.

Eric Garcia will be joining Barcelona in the next transfer window on a free transfer from Manchester City. David Alaba and Georginio Wijnaldum are also linked with a free transfer move, with the latter looking more possible.

If Barcelona can successfully sign the free players and Haaland and sell all their transfer listed players for the right price, it will be considered as one of the greatest businesses.

Barcelona are currently 2nd in La Liga with only 4 points behind Atletico Madrid. They have closed a huge gap despite having a bad season. They defeated SD Huesca 4-1 in their previous matchup. Messi broke multiple records while carrying Barcelona.
