Barcelona to bring back Aubameyang from Chelsea this summer

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Barcelona’s financial constraints once again affected their transfer plans. They are unable to pursue a potential €40 million deal for Brazilian youngster Vitor Roque. As a result, they are reportedly looking to re-sign a former star striker, whom they let go last summer, i.e. Aubameyang.

In the 2022 summer transfer window, Barcelona signed Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich despite already having Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in their squad. Barcelona previously acquired Aubameyang on a free transfer from Arsenal. But due to financial complications during the summer transfer window, Aubameyang left for Chelsea after Lewandowski’s arrival.

According to recent reports, Barcelona is reportedly showing interest in re-signing former player Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. They want to bring him back to provide support for Robert Lewandowski in the forward position. The Gabonese striker left Barcelona to join Chelsea. Since then, he struggled to secure a starting spot in the Blues’ lineup and may be ready to return to Spain.

Will Aubameyang be a valuable addition for Barcelona?

Aubameyang will be an attractive option for Barcelona in their financial crisis. Since he would be a free agent and likely accept a lower wage. Furthermore, his previous spell at the club and positive impression in the locker room could also be beneficial in his potential return to the Catalan club.

Indeed, the summer transfer window is always an exciting time for football fans. As it is a time when clubs can strengthen their squads for the upcoming season. However, this summer is particularly intriguing for Barcelona due to their financial difficulties. These limited their ability to make big-money signings.

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid will like to have valuable additions in the squad this summer. As such, the pursuit of a player like Aubameyang would not command a high salary. It makes sense for the club. It remains to see whether they will be successful in their pursuit of the striker. But it is clear that Barcelona are looking to improve their squad in any way possible. While also remaining within the confines of the financial regulations.
