Barcelona to terminate Braithwaite’s contract

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Martin Braithwaite is still one of the players whose future has to be sorted. The Danish attacker has made it clear that he wants to stay and will leave only if he will be offered a high salary. Mallorca was close to signing Braithwaite until Braithwaite changed places. He asked Mallorca for more salary than what he is earning in Barcelona. Braithwaite still wants to stay and prove his worth but Xavi has made it clear that the unwanted ones must leave.

Braithwaite feels that he can be a great addition to the already Brilliant squad if Aubameyang and Memphis leave. The club is already facing financial struggles, and having difficulties registering players. The club has been looking to get rid of Martin for a long time because they have to make space for other signings also. Mallorca came in with interest in Braithwaite but soon decided to pull off. They are not willing to pay a high salary to someone who warms the bench at Barcelona.

Braithwaite is keen to stay but wants playing time also. Denmark are one of the underdogs of this years WC. Reports in Spain now say that Braithwaite is very close to leaving. Barcelona have finally agreed to a contract termination with the player that would free up the wage bill. Jules Kounde is still to be registered by the club as high wages continue to be an issue. Earlier it seemed that Braithwaite was willing to leave if he would get a compensation of €5 million. Barcelona have now managed to get his amount down to €2.5 million.

Departures at Barcelona still to take place

The transfer window is not over for the Catalans. Barcelona are still working on departures. The likes of Martin Braithwaite, Aubameyang, Depay, and Dest have been in the news recently a lot. Depay’s move to Juventus broke down at the last stages. Aubameyang to Chelsea is still being discussed by the 2 clubs. Dest is no longer a part of Xavi’s preferred squad and might just depart this season.

A right-back signing is what Barcelona are prioritizing now. Xavi wants a good ball-playing left-back who can provide offensive support. Juan Foyth from Villareal is one of the options out in the market. Hamari Traore from Rennes is also being discussed as a potential option at right back.
