Michel is said to be on Barcelona’s radar, with the Blaugrana considering him as a potential successor to Xavi. Michel is the topic of interest from Barcelona, according to a report by Spanish publication SPORT. This season, the Catalan giants have taken note of his improvement with Girona in La Liga. When Xavi leaves Spotify Camp Nou, the Blaugrana will go on the offensive in search of the 47-year-old boss.

Girona coach Michel is on Barcelona’s radar

After a few years of blowing hot and cold, Barcelona will finally enjoy a feeling of steadiness. On the financial front, the Catalan titans are still not out of the woods, with their problems not yet resolved. On the pitch, however, they are making great progress, with Xavi Hernandez controlling the ship out of rough waters. The Blaugrana entered the 2022/23 season hoping to compete in La Liga alongside Real Madrid. However, they have blown their bitter rivals out of the water to win the league title handily. Despite failing to advance to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona president Joan Laporta will be delighted with the development.

They’ve also made some smart moves in the transfer market, with Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen joining last summer to strengthen their defence. While Sergio Busquets’ long-term contract with Barcelona is coming to an end, Laporta will support Xavi in finding the ideal successor. Barcelona fans will be confident about the club’s future with Xavi making all the right moves. However, after a string of poor managerial appointments in recent years, Barcelona should be prepared for Xavi’s departure some years down the road.

Xavi is unlikely to leave Barcelona anytime soon. However, Michel could become his successor in a few years. For the time being, the 47-year-old will be focused on Girona’s continued success in La Liga. It will be intriguing to see if he remains on Barcelona’s radar in the future.
