Barcelona wants to sign Jorginho of Chelsea as Busquets replacement

Jorginho

Barcelona is currently looking for options to replace Sergio Busquets as a new pivot midfielder. Jorginho is currently on the radar of the Catalans.

Jorginho’s contract is going to expire by the end of the season. Speculations are there that he might finally leave Chelsea for a new destination. A possible transfer to Nou Camp is not unlikely.

Even though these rumors, Jorginho, and his agent firmly stated their desire to continue with Chelsea.

Jorginho’s next possible destination

During an interview with Santos:

“We’ve received a proposal from Chelsea to sign a new contract so it’s our priority to discuss with Chelsea,”

Santos said.

Santos also spoke about the midfielder returning to Napoli though not receiving any proposals from the club.

“Napoli interest? We’d be happy of their interest, it’s a special club for Jorginho but there’s nothing as of now,”

Jorginho moved to Chelsea in 2018 and since received huge success at Stamford Bridge along with the Champions League. But he was always linked with a possible transfer.

But as his contract reaches the expiry date, the player might look for a new challenge and go to Spain to play for the Catalans. However, if Chelsea offers Jorginho a new contract which he accepts, then Barcelona and other clubs might have to empty-handed.

The Catalans are also looking for a possible transfer of N’Golo Kante, along with Martin Zubimendi and Ruben Neves. Also, there is a possibility that Busquets might also stay at the club for another year.

Jorginho’s deal is up in 2023. Despite making comments about his love for the club in the past week, he might change his decision later on. N’Golo Kante’s contract situation also remains uncertain with his deal expiring next summer. The Frenchman is expected to be out with a hamstring injury until March.
