Bayern Munich plotting Timo Werner move

Timo Werner could be back in Germany as soon as January as Bayern Munich are planning to sign him. This is according to reports coming from Football Insider.

Werner has found it hard to impress ever since his move to Chelsea. His minutes in London have further reduced after the current Champions League winner have brought Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan this summer. Bayern is long term admirer of Werner and considers him as a good replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Chelsea according to the report are willing to let go of Werner and Bayer Munich could even land him in the January transfer window. There are also reports that Chelsea might be ready for a swap deal for Werner with Leroy Sane moving the other way.

WERNER COULD REIGNITE CAREER WITH BAYERN

Timo Werner was coming back of an excellent season in the 2019/20 campaign for RB Leipzig. The German scored 28 times for his club that season in the Bundesliga and attracted interest from many top clubs. Though Bayern were interested, Chelsea ultimately secured his signature.

But his time in Chelsea has not been impressive. Despite assisting for 12 goals, his 6 goals scored was not enough for the Blues. Werner was very wasteful in front of the goal, and his confidence took a dip. The arrival of Lukaku meant that minutes became even more scarce.

Chelsea are hence ready to ship Werner and even tried to use him in a swap deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland. Bayern, who were previously linked with Werner, have taken notice of the situation and are ready to make a move.

The German giants are looking to find a long term replacement for Lewandowski, who has expressed his desire to move away. Werner could also fit well with new manager Julian Nagelsmann, under whom he had his best season in Leipzig. With Chelsea also interested in signing Leroy Sane, there are rumours about a possible swap deal between both parties.

However, it is still too early to speculate the future of the deals happening. If Werner cannot get into the Chelsea team, he will be pushing for a move to Bayern. With FIFA World Cup coming in 2022, playing more minutes will be vital for the selection into the national team.
