The German champions Bayern Munich are reportedly looking to raise funds by selling their fringe players. The club is looking to offload Michael Cuisance, Joshua Zirkzee, and Adrien Fein this summer.
The latest development comes Bayern is planning to rebuild their squad. The club wants to raise money and considers selling its fringe players to meet the requirements. Bayern recently appointed Julian Nageslmann as their manager as Hansi Flick left the club.
The club is also looking to sell Corentin Tolisso and let Bauna Sar leave on loan alongside the three players. Tolisso missed a good chunk of his matches through injury and has never settled into the Bavarian main team. Sar on the other hand only arrived last summer, the club wants to try to give him more playing time.
BAYERN MUNICH TO SELL FRINGE STARS
For Bayern Munich, selling Cuisance, Zirkzee and Fein will not be easy. Cuisance was not able to establish himself in the Bayern midfield since his move from Monchengladbach. He was sent to Marseille on a loan last summer. However, his time was not fruitful as he was not able to impress the Bayern hierarchy.
Zirkzee made his debut for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga in the 2019/20 season. He made an impact at the tail-end of the season where he scored 4 goals from his 9 appearances. But, he was not able to get a regular spot on the team and hence was sent to Parma in the winter transfer window on loan. Zirkzee struggled to get into the Parma team appearing only 4 times for them.
The same is the situation for Adrien Fein who was sent on a season-long loan to PSV Eindhoven. He only appeared 13 times for them in the Eredivise playing only around 400 minutes. All three players have been underwhelming during their time at loan moves.
However, the performance of the players meant that there are few takers for them. Bayern Munich is hence forced to sell them at a lower price. Thus if any clubs are willing to take a risk, they could acquire the youngsters at a cutthroat price.
OTHER STARS ON THE PERIPHERY
As for Tolisso, the club is still not sure how to move forward. Regular injuries meant that he is not available for much of the games and cannot perform consistently. The 26-year-old has his contract with Bayern Munich till 2022. This means that the club would be willing to sell him and avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.
Bouna Sarr on the other hand joined Bayern only in the last summer transfer window. The club only has Benjamin Pavard as the right-back option, Sarr does not offer any long-term value. He has only played 8 times for Bayern in the Bundesliga this season and the incoming manager Julian Nagelsmann is said to be interested in bringing another right-back.
Bayern Munich thus has lots of decisions to make this summer. Going into the new season they will be looking to sell their fringe players. This will provide the funds to back their incoming manager and help in the rebuild. But how much they can get from the players will be the biggest doubt.
