Benjamin Pavard might join Liverpool after slipping past Barcelona

Sir Martin

Barcelona appears to be on the approach of letting go of an assortment of different targets on the surface. Following reports that Jules Kounde was dissatisfied with being confined to the right-back position despite his preference to play as centre back , Barcelona turned much more willing to bring in an experienced right-back to allow the Frenchman to be deployed in his typical centre back position.

Barcelona withdraws itself from Benjamin Pavard Race

Earlier this week the revelation was that Joao Cancelo might not sign for Barcelona. It now appears likely that another among the Catalan club’s right-back targets is on his way out, according to the most recent SPORT report. Benjamin Pavard, right-back for France’s national team and Bundesliga club Bayern Munich, was another name Barcelona was looking at. So that a probable arrival for the French fullback might be arranged. However, it appears that the Catalans have given up on seeking a right-back in the short term. They are more focused on recruiting players for other positions, making Pavard less of a priority.

Pavard might pair up with Van Dijk to take charge of Liverpool defense

Liverpool might sign Benjamin Pavard in the upcoming transfer window, according to Christian Falk of CaughtOffside. The 27-year-old defender intends to leave Bayern Munich in the summer, and the Merseyside club are hot favourites to land him after Barcelona quits the race. The Merseyside club appears to be the best option for the 27-year-old free agent. While Jurgen Klopp’s club will prioritise recruiting midfielders during the transfer season, they also hope to add a new defender. In the absence of Ibrahima Konate, Klopp no longer feels Joe Gomez and Joel Matip can establish a dependable partnership with Virgil van Dijk. As a result, he is looking for a new central defender.

Pavard has spent the majority of his time at Bayern as a right-back, but he likes to play as a centre-back. And can easily pair with Van Dijk in defense. The 27-year-old can also play right back on occasion, giving Klopp the option to rest Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 27-year-old’s contract expires next year but has decided to move on. It appears that his future lies outside of Germany, whether with Barcelona or another team entirely. Bayern’s current asking price for the Frenchman is €30 million, which only a few clubs would consider paying for the player’s abilities right now, with Barcelona appearing to be less interested.
