Benzema and Lewandowski, the two best in the world

Real Madrid Vlahovic

Karim Benzema was hands down the best player in the world last season. The Frenchman seemed to be on a level that nobody could reach last season. He was scoring goals for fun against the likes of PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester City. It was he who was the deciding factor in almost every knockout game for Real Madrid. It is no doubt that the Ballon D’or would have justice done to it only if Benzema lifts it this time. And sure enough, Benzema lifted the Ballon d’Or 2022 on 15th October and created history.

It was a stellar season that ended in the best possible way for Benzema and Real Madrid. The Frenchman was followed up by Sadio Mane, who was sensational for Senegal and Liverpool. Kevin De Bruyne came in 3rd as he guided Manchester City to yet another Premier League title. Zinedine Zidane even went as far as calling Benzema the best french striker in history. It is a historic moment for Benzema who becomes the 2nd player to break Ronaldo Messi’s dominance in the Ballon d’Or.

As for the best goalscorer award, it was once again the most expected name. Robert Lewandowski wrapped up his 2022 in style as he grabbed the Gerd Muller Trophy. The New Barcelona No.9 is having a stellar season so far, having fired in 14 goals already. He settled in almost immediately after arriving and improved Barcelona’s attack massively. Lewandowski is currently the top scorer in La Liga as well as the Champions League. He was unable to win the Ballon d’Or in 2020 when France Football canceled the ceremony.

How expensive were the duo’s watches?

Benzema pulled up to the Ballon d’Or ceremony in style. The Ballon d’Or winner was wearing a half a million dollars Richard Mille watch. It is known to be the brand’s most complicated watch which took 5 years to come to the market. The model signifies the brand’s technical approach and it was done justice that night after Benzema wore it.

The story is different for Robert Lewandowski who wore a watch 8000 times less expensive than Benzema’s watch. The Polish pulled up with a Casio watch as he kept it very simple on the night. It was just in August when one of his most expensive watches was stolen from the training facility. But still, being one of the highest-paid players in the world, Lewandowski did not flex his wealth at all.
