Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke previously has stated that the club had a gentleman’s agreement with Jadon Sancho. He told that Sancho will be allowed to leave the club in the summer if all conditions are met. One of the major conditions was for the transfer to be completed at the earliest.
Manchester United were the frontrunners for the signature of Jadon Sancho last season. However, the move never materialized as United was not ready to meet Dortmund’s demands. The English giants are still the favorites in the race for Sancho.
JADON SANCHO AVAILABLE TILL END OF JULY
Sancho has been excellent since his move from Manchester City to Dortmund. He has appeared 137 times for Dortmund and in that time has scored 50 times and assisted 58 times in all competitions. An amazing dribbler, Sancho has been the creative outlet for the Black and Yellows for the last 4 seasons.
The 21-year-old has a contract till 2023. This is a reason why Dortmund will allow Jadon Sancho to leave this summer as they can maximize their profit. The pandemic has also reduced the revenue of Dortmund, as a result of which they have reduced their asking price.
Manchester United is said to be preparing a bid in the range of €93m, after missing out on Sancho the previous summer. However, reports from Germany are that no official bids or concrete discussions are present between the two parties. Yet, the Red Devils are still the favorites to sign the 21-year-old.
Other clubs are also monitoring the situation of Jadon Sancho, most noticeably Chelsea and Liverpool. Both the clubs are keeping an eye on the situation. With Dortmund stressing that the deal should be completed before the end of July, clubs should act fast.
SANCHO TO STAY IN DORTMUND?
For Dortmund, the situation with Sancho is clear. They are ready to sell the player but only if their demands are met. Alongside the transfer fee, the club is strict about the timeline as they want to find a suitable replacement for the English winger if he leaves the club.
In case the conditions or timeline are not met, Dortmund is happy to keep hold of their superstar for one more season. It is a win-win situation for them and gives them extra power in any discussions.
As for Sancho, he is currently with the England squad for Euro 2020. He is set to make a significant part in the Three Lions campaign. If he can recreate his club form to the international stage, his stock will surely rise.
