Can Real Madrid make it 15 UCLs?

Real Madrid

Real Madrid defied all odds last season as they lifted the Champions League for a record 14th time. Los Blancos had an absolute roller coaster ride on the way to the UCL title. Nobody had expected a Real Madrid squad with no Ronaldo to live in the Champions league and rule Europe. But they really proved why they are called the kings of Europe. The historical club made even more history as they also clinched the La Liga title well before the last game.

But the question that arises is: Can Real Madrid do it again? One thing is clear; nobody would bet against this Real Madrid side once again lifting the Champions League for the 15th time. But if odds are to be calculated, then it seems unlikely for them to defend this title. Last Season, they had to rely on Magical performances by Karim Benzema against Chelsea, Manchester City, and PSG. The Frenchman was in mind-blowing form last season for Madrid, with many believing that he deserves the Ballon d’Or.

This season things seem to be different. While there is no guarantee that Real Madrid cannot do it again, Europe’s big clubs seem to be too strong. Barcelona will be one of the favorites to lift the title with the world-class squad they have. Manchester City had no weakness last season also and now they have signed Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez. Bayern Munich are also looking too strong for most of the clubs with Sadio Mane, De Ligt, Gravenberch, and Mazaruoi coming in. PSG needs no introduction with Messi and Neymar firing for them.

Benzema for the Ballon D’or this season?

Karim Benzema was hands down the best player in the world last season. The Frenchman seemed to be on a level that nobody could reach last season. He was scoring goals for fun against the likes of PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester City. It was him who was the deciding factor in almost every knockout game for the Los Blancos. It is no doubt that the Ballon D’or would have justice done to it only if Karim Benzema lifts it this time.

The world cup is also near but performances from the world cup would not be accounted for this season’s Ballon D’or. Even Lionel Messi has admitted that Karim Benzema deserves the Big accolade this season and there should be no one denying it. Unless something extraordinary happens, It would be only Benzema to get the prestigious trophy this season.
