Chelsea join Manchester United in the race for Haaland

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Erling Braut Haaland is at the centre of the battle between Manchester United and Chelsea. The young Norweigan striker has been phenomenal since he broke into the football scene.

Haaland has scored 10 goals and assisted twice in 8 matches in the 20/21 Bundesliga season. This is more impressive considering Borussia Dortmund hasn’t been in good form. Last season Haaland amassed 44 goals and 10 assists in 40 games for both BVB and RB Salzburg.

This fiery form of Haaland brought the European Giants like Manchester United and Chelsea to BVB’s doors.

Super-agent Mino Raiola is Erling Braut Haaland’s agent. Going by the Italian’s track record, Haaland’s departure from BVB is imminent.

HAALAND ALMOST JOINED MANCHESTER UNITED

In the 2019/20 January transfer season, Erling Haaland almost joined Manchester United. The Norwegian was in contact with another Norwegian, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. After multiple phone calls and talks, Ole thought he had his man. However, Mino Raiola had other ideas.

Erling Braut Haaland snubbed Manchester United to join BVB as he believed he wouldn’t get enough game time in the Premier League. At the end of the day, it was the right decision. Now he has made a mark on the footballing world and can now leave BVB for a bigger challenge.

Multiple reports claim Manchester United are now trying to swoop-in for Jadon Sancho and Haaland to bring them both to Old Trafford. Ed Woodward has failed once already so he’ll try to get it right this time around.

Manchester United also has a past with the Haaland family. Alf-Inge Haaland played for Manchester City in the early 2000s. It was at this time when Roy Keane revenge tackled the Norwegian which ended his career prematurely.

CHELSEA AND THE WERNER PROBLEM

Chelsea were probably the only European Giants who weren’t after the Norwegian wunderkind. This was due to their summer signing, Timo Werner.

However, Timo Werner has been very disappointing this season. The German has been firing blanks and missing open goals this season. This is very unlike him.

Chelsea are known to be very ruthless. This comes from their ruthless Russian owner Roman Abramovich. He is known to sack managers just a few games into the season. After spending £50 million on him in the summer he will definitely be disappointed.

To right this wrong, Marina Granovskaia, the Director of Football at Chelsea, will try to go after Erling Braut Haaland.
