Chelsea looking forward to the return of Wesley Fofana from injury

Fabrizio Romano recently asserted that Mauricio Pochettino holds a strong admiration for a Chelsea player. He has yet to make an appearance. In a Twitter post, Romano mentions that Wesley Fofana is in the manager’s long-term plans. Despite being in the sidelines for the entire season so far.

A significant positive development on the injury front emerged yesterday for the Blues, indicating that they may finally be overcoming their persistent troubles.

Fofana, initially anticipated by many to be in the sidelines until the latter part of this season. However, he was back on the training ground for the first time. Having endured a severe knee injury at the outset of pre-season, this setback added to the array of challenges he has confronted since joining Chelsea.

Up until now, he has been unable to establish a consistent streak of games. A situation that may be a cause for concern as he assesses the transfer activities the club has been undertaking.

Will Fofana return soon for Chelsea?

Following the update on the Frenchman’s recovery, the club secured the services of Axel Disasi. He operates in a role quite similar to his on the right side of the center-backs. Despite the former Monaco player’s successful stint in the first team since his arrival, the dynamics could potentially shift once Fofana regains match fitness.

According to Romano, Pochettino is an avid admirer of the player. Even though he has yet to witness him in action under his management.

Romano said:

“Chelsea announce Wesley Fofana’s back on Cobham’s grass. Working to be back with 1st team as soon as possible.”

“Understand Pochettino rates Fofana highly as part of his future Chelsea plans.”

With promising defenders like Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile in the mix, the future in the defensive position appears increasingly bright for Chelsea.
