Ousmane Dembele is in the form of his life. The winger is a guaranteed starter for Barcelona as he offers what no other player on the planet can. Being 2 footed, Dembele can almost beat anyone in a one v one situation. His pace and ability to assist are second to none. Dembele is reborn under Xavi. It is visible on his face that he wants to win and has the hunger to lead his team. He has not only improved in his decision-making but also in his defensive aspect of the game. Against Plzen, he made crucial tackles to win back possession for the team. At this rate, he is easily the best right winger in the world without any doubt.
This version of Dembele is scary for any opposition in the world. He has stayed injury free for the last year or so and that has benefited him highly. His diet and fitness are also one of the reasons for his brilliant performances. Although, the contract situation surrounding him was also very tense for quite a long time. But Dembele’s intention was to always stay at Barcelona and in the end, that happened to be the case. The Frenchman signed an extension for 2 years, staying until 2024. He can be one of the most important players for Barcelona’s new era under Xavi.
Former Barcelona player Martin Braithwaite was asked about his former teammates and club. The Danish said:
“Dembele is very good. I like him a lot. He has a huge talent. I have never seen someone with his talent. I’m serious. Leo Messi is something else, but after him, I haven’t seen any player like Dembele. The boy is special. Dembele’s individual talent has more impact than that of a player like Lewandowski, individually speaking. Ousmane is incredible. A good player and a good person. Lewandowski though scores a lot of goals. I am happy for him and he is a great professional.”
Can Dembele lead Barcelona to glory?
Dembele’s season has kicked off in fine form. He has formed a lethal partnership with Lewandowski and Raphinha. The Frenchman has already scored once and assisted twice for the Blaugranas. Coach Xavi has compared the Frenchman to the young Barcelona version of Neymar. He can easily be the best in the world working on some aspects of his game. With guidance from someone like Xavi, it won’t take long for him to achieve brilliant numbers in goals too.
It finally feels that Barcelona have a worthy squad with world-class players. It might just be the time when trophies return to Camp Nou. But the likes of Ousmane and Lewy have to be at their majestic best. Barcelona were emphatic against Viktoria Plzen at Camp Nou earlier this week.
