Ousmane Dembele has finally ended speculation on his future. The Frenchman has put pen and paper on his new deal with the Catalans that runs until 2024. This contract now ends all rumors that were surrounding the player and the club since January. The 25-year-old was expected to depart from the Camp Nou this summer as all the offers from the Blaugranas were rejected by his entourage.
Ousmane Dembele has had a tough life in Barcelona. The winger has been injured for the most part of his career at Barca but the 2021/22 season was different. The Frenchman was absolutely electric under Xavi, giving brilliant performances every week. The only time it seemed that Dembele might just change the trajectory of his career at Barca, he wanted to leave. His agents made absolute ridiculous demands that the Catalans were in no position to accept.
June 30 was the day when the Frenchman became a free agent. Contacts were established with various clubs, including PSG and Chelsea. Negotiations went ahead with Chelsea but once again Dembele’s demands were deemed to be too much. With no club meeting his demands, he had no choice but to renew with Barca, taking a 40% wage cut from the initial contract offered.

” I am very happy to renew . It was always a priority for me. I told the boss and the coach about it. It took a long time but now everyone is happy. I am looking forward to the new season and helping Barca to compete. Hopefully , this is the year for me and Barca, “
the Frenchman said.
He further talked about his first years at the club and how injuries ruled him out for so long but now he feels good.
President Laporta was also full of praise for Dembele. The Spanish politician said,
” We are really happy with this renewal. Ousmane was a priority for us and Xavi wanted him in the team. We all know how good of a player he is and I would like to thank everyone who made this renewal possible.”
Xavi will be really happy to have the talented winger on his team. He showed very well last season what he can do when trusted and Camp Nou fans will be keen to see this.
