FC Barcelona could sell Frankie De Jong to bring Raheem Sterling

FC Barcelona could sell Frankie De Jong to bring Raheem Sterling. The Catalonian Outfit is seriously looking to bring the England International at the Camp Nou. New FC Barcelona Head coach Xavi wants to sign a high-profile attacker by January however, Barca’s Financial woes could restrict them from signing a new player. But, a Loan move for any player could be happening for the Club.

Therefore, FC Barcelona is trying to sell their Dutch Midfielder Frankie De Jong whose contract expires in 2026. The Sale of the Dutchman would fund a move for Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling who is Xavi’s main Target. The Catalan giants are desperate to bring Sterling at the club during the January transfer window but will struggle to afford the England international due to their financial issues.

In La Liga, there is a fixed salary cap limit that every club must follow. There is strict compliance with the financial fair play (FFP) rules as well. It includes a Salary Cap which is the maximum amount that a club can spend on the salaries of players, coaches, trainers registered with the first team. The salary cap for all teams limits player wages and acquisition costs to 70% of club revenues.

Meanwhile, FC Barcelona violated the rules which led Lionel Messi to forcefully leave the club after spending 16 years. Therefore, Barca will have to move players on during the winter window to register new signings. Several outlets have claimed that the club is willing to let Frankie De Jong move to a new club for their benefit.

MANCHESTER CITY PLANNING TO ADD FRANKIE DE JONG AND HAVE MADE A FORMAL PROPOSAL TO FC BARCELONA AS WELL

Fichajes.com has reported that FC Barcelona will accept bids for De Jong in the region of €90 Million. They have also reported that Pep Guardiola wants to add the 24-year-old to his Core plans and have made an initial proposal of €90 Million to Barca.

Xavi is a huge fan of Raheem Sterling and he would love to bring him to the Club in the New Year. However, FC Barcelona would struggle to land Sterling even on Loan, due to his Wages of £300,000 per week. But, the 5-time UEFA Champions League winners are hopeful that the landscape change during the forthcoming January transfer window.

The 24-year-old Dutch arrived at FC Barcelona from Ajax in 2019 for a reported €75 Million. He has made 106 appearances for Barca with 14 Assists and 9 Goals to his name. The Premier League Champions are the frontrunners to land him as of now.

The 24-year-old has again been an important player for the La Liga giants this term. But will find himself in a battle for a starting role when Pedri returns to fitness. Gavi has also emerged as a key player for the club while Sergio Busquets remains a key figure in midfield.
