FC Barcelona send Francisco Trincao on loan to Wolves

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

FC Barcelona have confirmed that they have sent their Portuguese forward Francisco Trincao on a season-long loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Wolves also have an option to purchase the player at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Trincao started his football career at the youth level of Portuguese club Braga and went to play for them until 2020. Following his growth for the Portuguese side, he was also selected by his national team for the U19 European Championship in 2018. And his form for both Braga and Portugal earned him a transfer to Spain, as Barcelona signed Trincao for €26.5 million last season.

The 21-year-old hardly started any matches for the Catalan, as he was mainly used as a substitute by Ronald Koeman. Despite that fact, Trincao was able to appear 42 times last season while chipping in 3 goals and 2 assists. The Portuguese also played a part for Barcelona in the Copa Del Ray, as the Catalans lifted the trophy for the 31st time.

Despite arriving last season Barcelona are ready to offload Trincao this summer following their financial issues. The Catalans are looking to cut off their expenses in order to support Lionel Messi’s new contract and sign some other players.

Barcelona have already announced about agreeing to a loan for Trincao with the Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Portuguese is all set to fly for England to join the Wolves for the next season.

Wolves are successful in landing Francisco Trincao on a season-long loan

Wolves finished 13th in the Premier League table last season, following which they lost their manager Nuno Espirito Santo to Tottenham Hotspur. However, they were quick to handle the situation as they have assigned Bruno Lage as their new manager.

Bruno Lage has already been active in their transfer market as Wolves have already signed Colombian defender Yerson Mosquera. However, his priority in the market is to find a good attacking option. And he seems to achieve that goal as he has been able to secure the right-winger Francisco Trincao from Barcelona.

Both Wolves and Barcelona announced on Sunday that they have agreed on a loan deal for the Portuguese winger. Trincao will join the premier league side on a season-long loan for the next season. While Wolves also have an option to buy the player after next season for a price of €25 million.

Wolves technical director Scott Sellars appreciated the signing as he commented, “He’s a really exciting player. It’s an area we’d like more competition, in terms of wide players. I think the fans are going to enjoy watching him play. He drives with the ball well and has good creativity.

He’s a player who drifts past people, and he has a great change of direction when he’s moving with the ball. He has great speed over two or three yards, to change direction and get away from people, can score and create, and is an exciting player.

Trincao will travel to England on Sunday and will need to quarantine before joining the Wolves squad. We all hope to see the youngster get more game time so that he can showcase his talent to the Premier League fans.
