FC Union Berlin continues their impressive start to the new season

After taking over as manager of Union in the summer of 2018, Fischer, 56, guided the east Berliners to their first promotion to the Bundesliga after that season. They easily maintained their position in 11th place in 2019–20 before making it to Europe and finishing the following year in seventh. Union finished sixth the previous season, earning a spot in the UEFA Europa League group stage and advancing to the DFB Cup semifinals.

The performances they have displayed this season are why everyone is starting to notice them. They currently sit on top of the Bundesliga table. With 20 points from nine league games, they are ahead of some substantial German giants in Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. They are a serious contender for the Champions League spots.
